Panama launches international scholarship program as a provider country

Panama launched an international cooperation program that provides 30 scholarships for university students from Spain (10), South Korea (10), Chile (5) and Mexico (5) to complete a semester of studies in the country Central American, informed an official source today.

This first call of the Student Mobility Program launched by the Panamanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is part of the National Cooperation Plan "Panama Coopera".

The Panamanian Foreign Ministry stressed that this is an "unprecedented initiative that seeks to promote the mobility of students through the exchange."

The benefits of this international program, which Panama puts into action as a country offering cooperation, include exemption from tuition, airfare, lodging, economic stipend for transportation and food.

The Student Mobility program offered by the Panamanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs supports the efforts of positioning the country abroad and allows Panamanian students to enrich their knowledge through cultural exchange, ideas and experiences with visiting students.

Panama, as a middle income country, and through the National Cooperation Plan "Panama Coopera", has entered as a country offering cooperation, "thus positioning itself in the global development agenda and one of the main proponents of the Sustainable Development Goals in the region, "said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Students who attend the fourth semester of universities with current agreements with the University of Panama, Technological University of Panama, Specialized University of the Americas and the Maritime University of Panama may benefit.

In this first call Panama will make available 30 scholarships for university students from Spain (10), South Korea (10), Chile (5) and Mexico (5) can complete a semester of studies in the Central American country.

Those interested should enter the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to detail the requirements and obtain the information for application.

Registrations are open until January 30, 2018.
